Kartù Gallery Presents: Her

In March 2025, Kartù Gallery proudly presents "Her", an exhibition dedicated to celebrating the voices, creativity, and resilience of female artists from Melbourne's western suburbs. Running from 27 March to 24 April 2025 , this exhibition will showcase works that explore identity, resilience, and connection to the West.

Why "Her" Matters

Women have historically been underrepresented in the arts, often facing barriers to visibility, funding, and recognition. Kartù Gallery, an artist-led initiative, is committed to changing that by providing a platform where women and underrepresented voices can share their stories through visual art.

The name "Her" reflects a deeply personal and collective journey—the strength, struggles, and triumphs of women in the creative industry. This exhibition will serve as a space where their perspectives are not only seen but celebrated.

Perfect Timing: International Women's Day & Beyond

March is a significant month for recognising the contributions of women, with International Women's Day on March 8 serving as a global reminder of the progress made and the work still ahead in achieving gender equality. "Her" aligns with this spirit, shining a light on talented female artists whose work resonates with themes of empowerment, identity, and belonging.

Opening Night & Viewing Details

The exhibition opens with a special event on Thursday, 27 March 2025, from 5-7 PM, where visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists and engage with their work. "Her" will be available for viewing until 24 April 2025.

Meet the Artists

"Her" brings together a diverse group of female artists from Melbourne's western suburbs, each offering powerful and personal perspectives through their art. This collective showcases a wide range of mediums and themes, exploring identity, nature, connection, and resilience.

  • Ringvida Jonuskyte (@ringvida.photography) - Ringvida presents works from her ongoing photography series, "Wild Women", a captivating project that delves into the essence of femininity and its profound connection to nature. Her images capture the unexplainable spark of life within each woman, revealing freedom, self-awareness, and the untamed spirit within. "Wild Women" serves as a poignant reminder that every woman carries an inherent goddess, empowering them to embrace their strength, resilience, and creative mastery.

  • Candy Ng (@candyngart) - Candy will be showcasing her work "Breakthrough" at the exhibition. As a Melbourne-based Fine Artist, Live Event Illustrator, and Calligrapher originally from Hong Kong, Candy expresses her art in a lively, playful, and painterly way. Her work captures raw, authentic emotions using bold colours and expressive brush strokes. Candy’s practice spans collaborations with luxury brands and exhibitions across Australia, bringing joy and inspiration through both studio pieces and live illustrations.

  • Luka Va (@lukava) - Luka is a Lithuanian illustrator known for her vibrant and quirky naïve art style. Her playful world of anthropomorphic characters bridges city life and nature, inspired by her move to Australia and its unique wildlife. Luka works across mediums, from intricate ink drawings to colourful canvas paintings, often under her creative label, Surfing Sloth. Her pieces explore everyday rituals with humour and curiosity, inviting viewers into a whimsical, imaginative world.

  • Komal Sharma (@artorate) - Komal has created over 2,200 paintings, exploring the profound presence of animals and their ability to live in the moment. Her work invites viewers to experience the world through an animal’s perspective—mindful, still, and connected. Komal’s deeply meditative paintings reflect her passion for nature and support for The Lost Dogs’ Home, combining her love of art with meaningful advocacy.

  • Amy Dart (@amy.dart) - Amy’s work bridges the natural world with themes of life, death, and surrealism. Originally from Tasmania, Amy draws inspiration from botanical studies and her lifelong collection of nature’s treasures—flowers, insects, skulls, and shells. Her intricate compositions on circular boards invite viewers into visual portals that explore memory, wonder, and nostalgia. Now based in Melbourne, Amy continues to celebrate the beauty in the wild and the weird, encouraging deeper connections with nature.

  • Ludwina Dautovic (@artbyludwina) - In addition to exhibiting her expressive paintings, Ludwina will create a live artwork on Opening Night. Her work reflects themes of strength, self-discovery, and feminine empowerment. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to watch Ludwina paint live, offering an intimate insight into her creative process and the story behind her work.
