Ludwina Dautovic

Ludwina is a Melbourne-based artist who began painting in 2016 at the age of 50. What started as a way to find balance in her entrepreneurial pursuits quickly evolved into a transformative artistic journey, revealing a profound talent for capturing emotion and storytelling through art.

Known for her captivating portraits, nudes and abstract pieces, Ludwina’s work explores themes of identity, resilience and the untold stories that shape us. Her art combines bold lines, fluid shapes and textured layers to evoke deep emotion and invite personal interpretation.

Ludwina’s artistic journey has been enriched by her time at an artist residency with renowned Australian landscape artist Marian Rennie, where she immersed herself in the creative process and refined her craft. She has also been mentored by acclaimed artist Godwin Bradbeer, whose specialty in the human form has deeply influenced her exploration of abstraction and emotional depth.

Her work has been showcased in several exhibitions and public spaces. She participated in the Show Your Westside Art Prize and Exhibition, where her painting was sold to a prominent local businessman and art collector. Additionally, her art has been displayed at Favor & Grace, a stylish suburban café in Laverton, Melbourne, where six of her paintings were exhibited for a year. She has also exhibited at Seddon Deadly Sins, a hip café in Yarraville, demonstrating her ability to tailor her art to diverse spaces.

One of Ludwina’s most notable works is her textured portrait of Hollywood actor Gilles Marini, celebrated for his roles in Sex and the City, Dancing with the Stars and Brothers and Sisters. Gilles is currently starring in 1923, the hit series from the Yellowstone universe. This piece highlights Ludwina’s ability to capture the essence of her subjects with depth and character.

Her tagline, Painting the Stories Untold, reflects her belief that art is more than just a visual experience; it’s a connection to untold stories and human resilience. She offers customisation and commission services and can bring personal textures into your commission to bring life to your untold stories.
