Whispers of Wisdom

Ludwina Dautovic is a Melbourne-based artist who began painting at age 50, quickly discovering her passion for portraits, nudes, and abstract art. Her expressive style combines bold lines, fluid shapes, and rich textures to explore themes of identity, resilience, and untold human stories. Influenced by mentors such as Marian Rennie and Godwin Bradbeer, Ludwina's work has been showcased in several exhibitions and public spaces across Melbourne.

Description: ‘Whispers of Wisdom’ is about the hidden emotional scars women carry—those quiet wounds we often hide behind smiles and strength. At its centre is a woman whose body is marked by life's battles—loss, betrayal, grief, aging, and the everyday struggles of being a woman. Yet, in her scars, there is resilience, beauty, and softness. Her younger selves surround her, reminding her of who she once was: wild, free, and unbroken. The crocheted doily stitched onto the canvas symbolizes the wisdom passed down through generations—voices of grandmothers, mothers, and sisters who walked this path before us. Its pocket creates a sacred place where each woman can keep personal symbols of strength, love, or loss, making the painting uniquely hers. Feathers placed inside and beside the pocket represent freedom, gently encouraging each woman to define what freedom means for her. ‘Whispers of Wisdom’ isn't just a painting; it's a mirror reflecting your journey through pain, healing, and reclaiming yourself. My hope is that women see themselves in this work, feel understood, and are inspired to honour their own stories—or perhaps even commission their own personalised 'Scars of a Woman' piece.
